"The Library" is the Life Science Library on the University of Texas Campus. I thought it was a classically beautiful room, and tried to create that vision in my photograph. It was quite overexposed, but easy enough to fix in Lightroom. I took it into Photoshop next and applied the Topaz DeNoise AI filter. Then I opened the image in Nik ColorEfex Pro and primarily improved the contrast and detail definition, but also changed the color to sepia. I thought it still needed something, so I opened it up in Nik AnalogEfex Pro where I applied a texture and the border. This gave it more of a vintage look, which is what I had hoped to do.

Nice sharpness and tonal range -- dark darks and light lights. Strong lines add weight to the composition. I'm not sure about the vintage look, though -- it can appear that there are splotches on the wall, and a viewer might not see what you are trying to achieve. Overall, very well done. They are not making rooms like this anymore, and you captured the look nicely.   Posted: 05/02/2023 07:46:21

I get what you mean about the vintage look. I think I need to do a different texture that is more subtle.   Posted: 05/02/2023 09:54:12

Well done. This looks like an old-fashioned engraved image to me. However, an engraved image is a vintage image, so you did achieve your goal. Love the sharpness throughout.   Posted: 05/02/2023 08:09:55

Yes Peggy, you have created a new visual effect. At first glance, it gave me the appearance of looking down into the street from the top of a skyscraper. Good point on the "splotches", but I think they are part of the story and as Jerry said: "They are not making rooms like this anymore."   Posted: 05/04/2023 16:37:58

I really like this image. Reminds me of the comfy reading room in the library of my university. A nice place to cozy up with a good book. I like the texture and tonality of the image overall. Great perspective showing the ceiling.   Posted: 05/05/2023 09:44:06

Very interesting. The ceiling almost makes me think it's upside-down...maybe that's my dyslexic tendency. :)
I like the B/W rendition - it makes the ceiling really stand out. Great job!   Posted: 05/25/2023 10:58:54

A simply delightful vision! It speaks vintage! Even though the ceiling has heavy visual weight, you balanced it with visual weight at the bottom. Nice straight lines everywhere!   Posted: 05/27/2023 09:20:04
