About the Image(s)

I captured this with Canon 5D Mark III, Tamron 24-70, tripod, ISO 500, f/16, 1/60 sec. The original is a result of 3 frames merged in LR. Basic edits done in LR, then finished in PS using TK7 luminosity masks with dodging & burning.

Beautiful image to look at Kaylyn. Lots of compositional layers, starting out with the brush in the foreground, followed by the row of trees, which in turn lead your eye to the mountains behind and then topped off by an interesting sky. The sky would have been much less interesting, and quite visually distracting, if it were a cloudless blue. The overall tone gives this a very atmospheric feel. It appears quite cold -- was it? And where is Wildhorse Canyon?   Posted: 05/10/2021 05:54:57

Thanks for the feedback. Wildhorse Canyon is east of Sun Valley. You head up Trail Creek pass to access it.   Posted: 05/20/2021 09:38:23

Very nice. I like the way you've brought out the clouds in the sky. The contrasts and colors are pleasing. The composition is good with the lines of the mountain and the lines of the trees. Good work.   Posted: 05/10/2021 08:54:05

As Jerry said, there are lots of layers here and much to look at. My eye starts with the fall colors and works its way back to the near mountain and the far mountains. I think the sky has been changed a little too much in your final. In the original, the snow storm is very evident to me, but the final version is much less stormy. Very nice image though.

I really enjoy looking at this image. The foreground is very sharp. It looks like an ideal Colorado mountain scene - - the ones that I love to find. I might have enhanced the saturation just a little to bring out the fall colors a bit more and saturate the sky just a hair. Using layers to just brighten the overall image might also help. Enhancing the background mountains is a plus. This is a great scene. Where is this canyon?   Posted: 05/13/2021 09:20:57

I think we can all agree that our eye leads us directly to the background mountains of this lovely scene. I also think that if you pump up the fall colors of the foreground, you can appreciate the background even more.   Posted: 05/13/2021 20:48:50

I have a tendency to oversaturate, so I stayed light on this one. But, after seeing your version, I like it even better. Thanks!   Posted: 05/20/2021 09:40:35
