About the Image(s)

Marti inspired me last month with her purple iris, and just by chance, I recently found a local garden with iris still blooming. So I have been happily photographing iris for the last 2 weeks. This one was shot at f/16, 1/50 sec, ISO 800, manual, on a tripod. I did a little basic editing in Lightroom and then moved it into Photoshop. In Photoshop, I selected the iris out of its background and placed it on a texture that I had opened as a layer above the iris. I took it back to Lightroom and cropped it as a square. Sadly, the iris are about done blooming here. They make a very nice subject to photograph because the blooms are so large that you can easily get a lot of detail.

A very nice image. I think this would make a perfect notecard.   Posted: 05/05/2021 08:03:28

I have made a notecard template in PS for a 5x7 card (10x7 paper). I use Red River's 10x7 scored notecard paper. I can't attach the file here but if anyone is interested, email me.   Posted: 05/05/2021 17:27:21

The purple on purple works well, and you did a nice job of bringing out detail. This is not easy when the subject has very similar shades, particularly reds. The green stem is not too distracting and gives an anchor to the flower, so that it does not seem to be just floating in midair.   Posted: 05/07/2021 06:45:47
