Original 2

About the Image(s)

felt a cold coming on so I made a bowl of chicken soup. I felt that the soup had more uses than eating, Original 1 was OOC with my iPhone. After taking the image I added more garlic & some lemon juice, and ate my soup.
After making the usual adjustments: I applied a 3D layer; Apply image, multiply; Stylize | emboss - blend mode overlay; stamp visible; adjust colors, selective smudging, while playing with brushes; Org 2; Crop; increased size in Topaz Adjust AI; in ACR, touch up overall luminescence, colors, red, orange, yellow, & green, vignette corners; back in PS levels adjustment. Concluded that the next time I have a cold I will consume orig 1.

Peter, The obvious comment to make here is 'Yummy!' This is an excellent example to show that images are all around us if we only choose to look with a 'Seeing Eye'. I read with interest the digital technique that you used to convert a simple bowl of chicken soup into a piece of art work. I like how the yellows and reds blend into each other with a flame-like effect.   Posted: 09/10/2021 13:39:31

Brian, Thank you for your remarks. I made an error in describing my processing. When I anticipate a lot of pixel pushing, and/or a heavy crop, I first increase the resolution, and increase the image size with Topaz Gigapixel AI, to minimize banding and artifacts. This step may not be necessary much longer, because Adobe a neural filter in PS, that permits huge crops.   Posted: 09/10/2021 17:37:43

Peter, Thank you for the clarification. I hadn't thought about doing that but it makes sense when doing a large crop to increase the resolution and image size beforehand. Some of the best routines are indeed the simplest when you think about it.   Posted: 09/11/2021 03:09:56

Wow, you sure did a lot of work on this. I love the idea of chicken noodle soup as a cold medicine. Sounds and looks tasty to me. After all of your work, my feeling is that the noodles have taken over and are a bit too heavy for the balance in the final image. I would suggest cropping it about halfway up the noodles from the bottom to give the more interesting aspects of the final outcome a stronger impact. The bright and thick noodles are taking over the picture, although you have done so much work on the upper half with the carrots. This is one of those images that could be cropped many ways, but I do suggest toning down the noodles   Posted: 09/13/2021 13:52:30
