About the Image(s)

This image started life as an ordinary shot of a butterfly. The posted original was my first processing. I: applied the twirl filter; transformed on a new layer; adjusted the red & orange; then playing with the black. the black. It's actually, just a free form, unplanned image. I just followed what the image told me to do. I cannot decide whether I like it or not, but the image told me to stop. What do you guys think? Please be blunt.

John, Thank you for your comment. My images are rarely pre-planned. Sometimes they work, and often they don't.   Posted: 07/06/2021 16:00:06

I love the way you have transomed the soft and flimsy wings of the butterfly into something that has an appearance of hard plastic or even metal. it reminds me of a bicycle helmet. Quite a feat. I would suggest turning the upper right area to match either the lower right or the lower left. The mushiness of that area is a bit distracting to me. Interesting set of applications. The dots on the Butterly have become rivets in my mind.   Posted: 07/12/2021 12:11:21

You have made a three dimensional image from the original as I can clearly see a dome and like Joan it reminds me of a helmet of some sort made of metal or plastic. Personally I prefer the butterfly image but you have created something quite extraordinary.   Posted: 07/12/2021 15:39:32

Peter, I love the saturated colours of the original and the abstract arty feeling of the composite. I warm to images that are not pre-planned but develop as you play around with your digital imaging tools and the ideas in your head. Of course, one of the key things is knowing when to stop. I like the granular quality of the image and like the others I too can see a helmet. This is the kind of image in which you can get lost. Well done.   Posted: 07/13/2021 15:13:26
