This photo was taken in a local natives species garden. Interestingly I was there to photograph butterflies when this American Goldfinch flew into my sight. They don’t tend to hang around very long and I was fortunate to be able to grab a few frames before the Goldfinch left.

Hi Norm,
Great shot of this beautiful bird against the green background. Nice details on the bird and flower. I hope you caught a few images of butterflies too. It appears that the Goldfinch is posing for you. Well done.   Posted: 08/03/2022 16:18:04

Love the colors, the blurred background and the sharpness of the bird and the flower   Posted: 08/05/2022 07:28:47
Birds are always appealing to me. I like the subtle differences between European and American birds that we use the same name for. Our Goldfinch is less yellow and has red patches on the head. Never the less this is a great pose on a very colourful perch. I like the background. The details are very sharp and well exposed. I also like the viewpoint.   Posted: 08/14/2022 08:10:42
A well composed image with the stems and flower significantly enhancing and differentiating just a picture of the bird. I like the stems coming out of the lower left, the purple petals and textured head of the flower and of course the positioning of the bird. The background is excellent, it is far enough away that F/8 made it perfect.   Posted: 08/14/2022 18:21:21
