About the Image(s)
Part of a circle of stones in the English Lake District. I decided to convert to mono as I felt it added a bit of drama to the scene.

The mono version probably adds drama as you intended, but I think the resulting image is too much center tone dominated to work well. I know I am a contrasty person with my monochromes, but I think this one could use more. The intersect of the stone on the left with the top of the hills would probably be less of a concern with significantly different colors of the hills and the stone. I would be curious to see the color version.   Posted: 05/06/2022 19:52:03
Hi John,
Nice landscape composition. Good DOF. Sharp details. Great lines and texture throughout. Black and white worked well. I agree with Stan in that it needs more contrast, and the left stone shouldn't intersect with the top of the hills. So I tried a few edits. I cloned the area behind the rock and added a little height to the hill behind. Then I added more contrast applying a Tonal Contrast filter from the Nik Collection.   Posted: 05/10/2022 11:13:46

Hi John,
Very good composition and the image is sharp. Per Barbara and Stan's comments additional contrast would help. I really like what Barbara has done with the sky...it really `pops'.
