Yellow Bloom by Barbara Asacker

May 2022 - Yellow Bloom

About the Image(s)

Nikon D850; 90mm macro lens; light tent

f/11; 1/80 second; ISO 125

These yellow flowers were mixed in a bouquet that I purchased from the local supermarket. The color appealed to me. I used a light tent for lighting. The background was white so I darkened the levels with an adjustment layer. Processed in Photoshop.

Beautiful image of nice clean flowers. Your tent lighting is very soft, perfect for the image. Amazing taking the background from white to black with no apparent artifact, and good choice of a very thin white stroke to show the edge of the image on a black background. Well done.   Posted: 05/06/2022 19:45:42

Hi Barbara,
This is a beautiful photo. The flowers are perfectly balanced and the leaf to the left lends a further sense of reality (that is, we know it's a freshly picked specimen). Per Stan I especially like the black background and simple border. Great job!

Also, just curious did you position the light tent to get window light or did you use artificial lighting?

Thank you Norm. My light tent has built in lights. It provides nice even light.   Posted: 05/13/2022 23:30:18

Your light tent has help to provide perfect lighting for the subject. I like the composition. The decision to change the background to black was a good one and the thin white border is perfect for our black page.   Posted: 05/16/2022 07:27:48

Barbara, I agree this image is perfect. Your execution in the in the light tent shows the fragility and beauty of the flowers.   Posted: 05/24/2022 13:16:13
