Cathedral Rock from Red Rock by Stan Bormann, FPSA, MPSA

January 2022 - Cathedral Rock from Red Rock

About the Image(s)

This shot of the Cathedral from Red Rock State Park is not traditional and the altar does not show through the side rocks. The plus is that the winter shadows are not very significant. Shot with an Olympus M1 Mark II and 12 - 100 f/4 lens at ISO 200, MP100mm, f/16, 1/200. Processed in Lightroom basic panel. Removed a few distracting power poles.

Hi Stan,
Nice landscape shot. Well composed, sharp, and good DOF. Great texture and colors throughout. It looks like a nice place to visit.   Posted: 01/07/2022 10:12:06

Hi Stan,
Nice landscape image. The colors are true and sharp and the way you have isolated the rocks against the landscape creates a good sense of scale.Well done!   Posted: 01/10/2022 10:19:14

You have to realise that for me scenes like this are just backgrounds in monochrome cowboy movies.I for many years hod no idea of the wonderful colours of these rocks. The trees help to give a hint of the scale. We do not get skies like that in winter, more 50 shades of grey.   Posted: 01/19/2022 04:57:22

Great landscape picture showing the scale and rugged beauty of these giant rocks. If it were my picture, I would crop just a little bit of sky from the top.   Posted: 01/21/2022 20:16:47
