The De Warr building by John Hackett

January 2022 - The De Warr building

About the Image(s)

This building is on the seafront at Bexhill in southern England. I converted it to monochrome and felt it was more appealing to me.

Hi John,
Nice shot. Well composed. I prefer architectural images to be in black and white too. Good lines and curves on this building. The pillars provided a frame, and the paths lead my eye into the image. Nice sky.   Posted: 01/06/2022 17:06:27

An architecturally interesting building with an equally interesting frame. The monochrome conversion seems to be well done. I think I will just say, well done.   Posted: 01/07/2022 21:20:44

Hi John,
This is a pleasing architectural image. The monochrome treatment really suits it well. The clouds and the framing add an interesting atmosphere to the photo as do the roads in front of the building. Well done!

John - beautifully composed image, if it were mine, I would increase contrast a bit.   Posted: 01/12/2022 10:25:57

The columns serve as a framing mechanism, inviting you to come in and inspect the building. The vertical lines of the massive columns are repeated in the building. The vertical lines are held together by the horizontal lines of the building. Shapes and lines throughout the building. Interesting building and great angle to emphasize the building's assets. The building seems to call for the monochrome treatment.   Posted: 01/21/2022 20:01:44
