Sand Beach Harbor Lake Tahoe by Stan Bormann, FPSA, MPSA

December 2021 - Sand Beach Harbor Lake Tahoe

About the Image(s)

Sand Beach Harbor is a great place for evening golden hour or sunset on Lake Tahoe. It is a state park that you need to pay to enter and park. We paid $10 but the sign said $15. You can also reach this place with a developed walk along the shoreline of the lake. Shot at ISO 400, 17mm. f/11. 1/60 sec with an Olympus M! Mark II camera and Olympus M12-100 f/4 lens

Hi Stan,
A wonderfully composed golden hour image! I like the way the sand on the shore draws you into the water and then moves your eye to the sky and the rocks. I also like that you included people on the rocks to show scale.

Shirley was the one that noticed what the light was doing to the sand at our feet. I need to credit her for that.   Posted: 12/06/2021 10:45:29

Hi Stan,

The first thing I noticed was the wonderful light in your picture, and how it led my eyes from the sand all around to the figures on top of the huge boulders. Great capture!   Posted: 12/06/2021 12:11:33

Hi Stan,
Great landscape shot. Perfectly composed. The golden light on the rocks, water, and sand enhances the image. It is a very peaceful scene pleasing to my eyes.   Posted: 12/07/2021 09:34:45

Hi Stan,
Wow, what a gorgeous shot of a Northern California summer evening. I grew up near there, and your shot brings back fond memories (I can almost smell the air when I look at your image). A very tiny suggestion: my eye is drawn toward the little bits of light on either side of the image (the rock and wave on the left side and the small tree on the right side), perhaps lowering the highlights on these items could be helpful.   Posted: 12/13/2021 09:39:19

A scenic cove with the lighting just right. Add in a couple of humans to give us some scale and it works for me.The inclusion of the small rock bottom left is perfect.   Posted: 12/18/2021 07:05:17
