About the Image(s)

Following on from Norms picture of the flower and his use of the replacement sky filter, I had to have a go. This is my effort. The building and foreground are as they came but I just added a bit of sky. I know it neds a bit of work still but it is just a bit of fun.

Hi John,
Great composition. Well exposed and good DOF. Nice texture on the shed and on the ground. The red roof and dramatic sky adds impact to the image. Perfect.   Posted: 07/07/2021 11:00:52

Hi John, A wonderful image. My only very minor suggestions for possible improvements are the following: 1. see how the image looks with less foreground in front of the shed-I'm not sure if that foreground adds much to the image; and 2. see how the image looks with the highlights in the clouds (upper right) toned down...I find that those highlights tend to draw me away from the rest of the image.

What an interesting picture. I know the sky is a replacement sky, but it makes the picture more dramatic and adds impact to the contrasting and unusual house. It almost could be a cut-out pasted on a sparse background. I agree about toning a little of that beautiful light shining on the right of the picture. It does draw you away from the house. What a find.   Posted: 07/17/2021 19:48:42

John - the house has an almost surreal quality and the sky you choose adds to that fantasy. I like it. Toning down the sky on the right side of the image is a good idea as others have suggested.   Posted: 07/18/2021 14:42:46

These replacement sky filters seem to encourage using the supplied skies that come with them. This is a wonderful sky which ends up sort of dominating the image. I think we all should be finding and storing a supply of our own interesting skies. For me, the building seems to of lost detail. I believe these sky replacement filters can actually impact the rest of the image and perhaps this one did that.   Posted: 07/19/2021 10:15:59

Stan I have already started building up my own library of skies, mostly not so extreme as the supplied ones. We all get pictures that could do with a boost in the sky.   Posted: 07/21/2021 03:25:57

Wonderful John. The dramatic color impact against your cloudy sky is a great concept. I particularly like the use of negative space on the right which seems to give balance between the black house and the lighter sky.   Posted: 07/29/2021 04:50:39
