About the Image(s)

Took picture of this wild flower we call Mexican Hat. I tried to isolate one blossom by itself but had no luck. Settled for these. I took it handheld at 1/200 sec at f/8.0 and ISO 1600. Used my 90mm Macro lens at 90 mm.Am sending you the original picture and cropped image. I ended up removing the greenery around the flowers and am wondering if I shouldn't have left them. Would it have been a better picture? Your opinion is appreciated.

Hi Marcela,
I like both images for their color & composition. But I think you had the right idea in isolating the flowers from the rest of the image...it really makes them stand out. My main suggestion would be to see if you can lighten the top cone head just a bit. Also, you might want to try shooting at F11 to perhaps enhance overall sharpness.

Hi Marcela,
Nice image. The shape of these flowers are interesting. The colors of the flowers and background are pleasing to my eye. I especially like the lighting. I think you improved the image by removing all the greenery around the flowers. I wonder if you rotated the image horizontally so that stems lead you into the frame from left to right, if you would like it.   Posted: 06/09/2021 20:00:32

You did the right thing with the crop and gardening. The background fits well with the colour of the flowers.   Posted: 06/14/2021 03:58:20

I like your processing singling out the flowers. colors are nice with the background emphasizing the flower.   Posted: 06/17/2021 09:03:48

I like both images - they have different vibes. Since the subject is in the wild, the image with leaves is my favorite.I would remove the dark parts at the top of the image and like Norm mentioned maybe shooting at f/11 would result in a sharper shot.   Posted: 06/20/2021 10:49:36

Hi, I am from group 77 but I love flowers. You did a great job on getting out lots of the extra limbs. I flipped the image and used the radial tool in Photoshop. I have an idea I would like to share with you. I hope you like it. Thank you.   Posted: 06/22/2021 15:51:31
