About the Image(s)
A friend and I have been doing some night photography. My results have been mixed. I like this effort which is part of the Richmond Battlefield. This star trail image was taken over 20 minutes and stacked in Photoshop. Each image was 30 seconds. We were on a light path to the local airport, so had to some clean up, but missed a little which can be seen along the horizon.

Jay, This is a terrific star trail image. You successfully captured detail in the artillery piece & the area around it. Great job!

Star trails fascinate me. When I am in a suitable location at and the sky is clear I find the night sky an absolute wonder. I have never attempted to photograph it and so this type of picture really appeals to me, especially when an interesting foreground is included. I also appreciate all the work that is involved in the final image.   Posted: 10/14/2024 08:26:23

Hi Jay, I've never delved into astrophotography, so I am in awe of this impressive photo. The star trail is well-defined. The cannon adds an interesting foreground subject and is well placed in the lower third.   Posted: 10/23/2024 10:54:17

Jay - I have never tried this type of photography, but do like the composition with the cannon and are those tombstones in the background?   Posted: 10/29/2024 14:06:43

This is a very worthy effort and nicely done!
perhaps I can give you 2 thoughts:
1. Stage the canon above the tree line. it will emphasis it.
2. brighten the canon / fore ground by 1EV it will make it more visible against the background.
I like it a lot. It reminds me of time travel. As if the canon is shooting to the psst
