Hooped roof by Ian Ledgard, GMPSA/b, EFIAP/p, AWPF, GPU-Cr5

December 2021 - Hooped roof

About the Image(s)

This image was created from a shot taken in 2016 and I am afraid that I cannot now locate the original to show you. It was olympic year and at St Pancras station in London the five olympic hoops were suspended from the roof. They were of course in five colours but I chose to turn them into green using Topaz. Increasing canvas size I then flipped the image and changed image size from retangular to square. Finally filling the four crners with black.

Interesting graphic image that may look very well as a monochrome.   Posted: 12/07/2021 04:45:21

Very well done as this is most creative and beautiful at the same time. And I would have also liked to see it with the original Olympic colors   Posted: 12/10/2021 12:07:30

I think that the suggestion of monochrome would work well. There are some colour halos around the bottom of some of the rings, which mono would eliminate. My eye is also drawn to a piece of puckered-in ring centre RHS which could be corrected. As well there are some blemishes in the degree of saturation in parts of the rings. A decent image, but not one of my favourites this month!   Posted: 12/12/2021 11:05:35

Helpfull coomments Mike, it is often those small details which one misses when so busy trying to create the next masterpiece. I will certainly have a go at a mono version.   Posted: 12/13/2021 04:23:46

Very effective graphic image. I am not a fan of the border though - sorry.
It also works in black and white (and rotated 90 deg), I think.   Posted: 12/17/2021 13:08:02

I prefer this version and wonder if it's possible to make them all perfect circles?   Posted: 12/21/2021 04:13:18

This is a clever interpretation of a found image. Olympic rings already imply a special event, and your take on it provides more interest. I'd like to see the monochrome version.   Posted: 12/19/2021 07:30:08
