About the Image(s)

Two weeks ago, I had a walk along the River Trent
to Sawley Lock for the first time. When I got there I was delighted with
the view (Original). This copy has already had telegraph lines cloned out,
a task that caused some interesting language. I then cloned out two of
the sheep, and cropped slightly. The result was put through Topaz Studio
Simplify, and I wrote 'Art' in the top box to bring out the filters that I wanted.
From the list I chose 'Cartoon Detail Smudge' which provided a much
better choice than the name suggests, to produce the final image.

Great shot! I like your "original" creation which I feel could use a little more contrast. The revision is certainly creative but I am not sure it is an improvement over your original.   Posted: 10/05/2021 08:26:15

The original shot is a very charming shot of the English countryside. With your changes, you made a painterly version of the scene, which I think works very well for the sheep, foliage and water. I wonder if partial masking of the bridge would be an improvement.   Posted: 10/05/2021 09:18:58

Removing sheep so three remain was a good choice. As you know I do a lot of similar images aiming for a painterly effect so the technique appeals to me. Would you consider just reducing the opacity of the Topaz layer just to allow a little of the original detail to be revealed. I think that might also address David's comment on the bridge. Worth a try.   Posted: 10/10/2021 11:47:30

Great effect. I agree about cloning out some sheep. Nothing else I can say.   Posted: 10/20/2021 04:03:21
