About the Image(s)

The Toledo Art Museum has a full-size replica of a dozing man. A few years ago, I photographed the image using a wide angle (24mm) lens and a high ISO. I decided to do something with the image so I first duplicated the image. On the top layer (layer 1) I carefully selected just the man and the small table and deleted the rest of the image. Then on the duplicated layer (layer 2) I selected everything in the image except the man and the table. I am not sure exactly what I did on the duplicated layer but it was something like gaussian blur (quite a lot), zoomed the image in Photoshop I enlarged and moved it around to improve the composition. The resulting photo has the image of just the man on the top layer and the manipulated layer under it. And, in the final image I adjusted contrast, vibrance and reduced noise.

This is a great image that works wonderfully. The thought processes that have gone into making this are admirable. I think that you have discovered a completely new technique. Well done for creating this!   Posted: 09/01/2021 13:08:56

We often see these replica 'sculptures' in museums and parks but I have never thought to try anything as creative as you have achieved here. The exploding lines suggest he is on a journey in a train or spaceship and he zooms along oblivious to his surrounding. Well done   Posted: 09/06/2021 15:03:38

What a fun, creative image! Definitely gives the idea of a man blasting through space or time without any awareness that it's happening.   Posted: 09/07/2021 14:28:29
