About the Image(s)

The original is a shot of a flower bed in the Keukenhof Gardens, Netherlands a couple of years ago, which had some interesting shadows.

I took put the original through Topaz's expressionism filter and got quite a pleasing result although I feel I may have have "lost" the face.

I like the feeling I get from your use of the expressionism filter. If you want to emphasize the face, I think its a matter of selectively dodging and burning to your taste.   Posted: 06/08/2021 06:30:42

Very interesting and very creative but I have no suggestions for improvement.

My experience when using the Topaz expression filter is that it is all too often just too vivid and I need to reduce the opacity for a pleasing result.
In your image it works really well on the rows of red tulips on the left hand side but becomes a little confused on the face itself, so Jerry's suggestion of dodge and burn would help. Alternatively you could consider using the sponge tool.
Just a bit more work to do I think.   Posted: 06/09/2021 09:23:40

Your use of the filter creates a striking effect. My eye floats around the image with nothing to actually home in on. There is a small red area, right centre. I think that if this could be strengthened somehow, it would solve the problem.   Posted: 06/11/2021 01:18:13

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have another go (when I have got some spare time!).   Posted: 06/15/2021 09:24:52
