About the Image(s)
A fairly straight forward image, with a minimum level of post processing - Adobe Camera Raw mostly, and cropping.
I like the colours and pattern in this picture.
Shot at 1/15, f22, iso400, panning camera low to high.
Your suggestions and comments are always appreciated.

Funther,
I did not comment last month because we are still recovering from the death of my husband, but I did read Barbara Miller's comments on what makes a creative image.e. I'm sorry to say that your wheat field does not meet the criteria she mentions.. I believe she said that a strraight shot was not fitting the creative category and this is basically it. You shot is pleasant, but to me has no creative aspect to it. I think it is necessary for the members of this group to either come up with images that are actually creative or to go to some other group. I hate to say it, but this tie most of the work does not IMHO fit creative. Barbara also said that the use of a single filter would not a creative make and that goes for some of the other photos this tine.I don't understand why we can't take some time to work to produce something that looks very different from the original.   Posted: 10/03/2024 21:22:01

Joan, first of my sympathies on the passing of your husband - difficult times for all those impacted.
Unfortunately , I find Barbara's definition a bit broad, and consequently not very helpful. I.e. can only use Adobe Photoshop tools?
Maybe I don't have her latest definition? Don't recall that using filters is not allowed. If that is in her definition, you're right - "I'm out of here!"
I'm curious where have you seen a wheatfield that looks like my picture?
I have no problem with you not liking it, as we all have different taste, especially in altered reality images. Thanks for your response.   Posted: 10/03/2024 22:19:56

To me, what would make it more creative would be a person or a tiger peering out between the stems. You could use liquify to pull the stems away from the eyes and nose and mouth.

CREATIVE . This section is not for beginners but is for those
whose images are dedicated to altered reality and who have
experience in Adobe Photoshop or the like--in other words
designed for the crème de la crème of digital imaging. These
members are committed to altering the image so that it departs
from the reality of the original photograph. A camera or other light gathering device could never solely capture such images as they appear in the altered image. A simple added filter does not qualify the image as Creative.
I understand Thant you feel your wheat field is unique and not what we would see in real life, and I can go with that, but for me it doesn't have a strong sense of creativity,,. I would hope that you could understand that.
I was administrator for two creative groups a few years ago, so I have some idea of what Creative is. A creative idea that could look realistic or an abstract that makes sense..   Posted: 10/04/2024 00:16:14

"A simple added filter……." Is not in Barbara's definition. Check it out in Categories at the top of the page.
Thanks for your more detailed critique and suggestions.   Posted: 10/04/2024 02:06:58

Yes, this is much more "creative." I like it as it goes a step further and we can no longer just look at this as an In-camera movement photo. Good work!   Posted: 10/05/2024 19:01:12

Thanks, Gunter, your new image meets any standard for creativity. I had been thinking your original would be a good background image for a later composition, as suggested in Joan's comment. I keep many background and sky images for that purpose, although I don't qualify as a creme de la creme processor yet. The circles add an interest and some patterns to the colors. I've added a swirl and warming layer. Just another level of possible interest, and some added some fun for me to create.   Posted: 10/05/2024 15:37:34

Gunter, The creativity in your original was in your intent when pressing the shutter to use intentional camera movement. So in my book it qualifies as creative. Your reworking takes it a step further, as does that offered by Bob.   Posted: 10/08/2024 14:59:09

Thanks, Ian.
Isn't it interesting how many creative definitions there are for "Creative".   Posted: 10/08/2024 15:38:40

I think there can be some creative uses of camera techniques - panning, lens blur and slow shutter. But, regarding the definition of this group, this picture has indeed been taken with a camera or other light gathering device. I think this point is well made by the alterations people have offered, Bob's being a good start, perhaps.   Posted: 10/09/2024 10:37:01

Thanks for your comments. I sense that my original image was perceived as "Creative Lite" by most of our group. As we all know, there are degrees of creativeness, from minimally creative to outrageously creative, all still creative. But each viewer and maker will have their bias, as to what extent the degree of creativeness is most impactful for them.

I like your image, I think ICM is really difficult to do well, therefore your image stands out to me. Great job   Posted: 10/10/2024 09:15:43

Thank you. It's not a "WOW/Hang on my wall" image, but thought it was interesting and wanted to elicit some feedback from the group - thanks for everyone's feedback   Posted: 10/10/2024 14:20:54
