November 2023 - Marble Canyon

About the Image(s)

I was on a workshop at Coal Mine Canyon, which is at the end of a 15 mile rutted one lane road on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. We were at the Canyon rim waiting for the sun to rise high enough to illuminate the interior of the Canyon, when I turned around and saw this. Sony A7iv, 1/125th, 72mm, f/4.0, iso 100.

Beautiful time of day to shot this! The windmill and water tower provide a nice focal point. I might consider cropping in a little more and adjust horizon so that it is not in the middle of the image. Topaz sharpening might add crispness to the foreground, although I find that it always doesn't work as intended.   Posted: 11/11/2023 09:43:28

Beautiful lighting and colors. I would crop in from top, bottom, and right to feature the windmill. The foreground focus is quite soft.   Posted: 11/11/2023 13:09:47

Perfect time of day to take this picture. The low light has picked out the shapes and given a good feeling to the scene. The wind pump or generator is well positioned in the frame. It was well worth turning round.   Posted: 11/17/2023 04:54:28

Great composition.....upper third of the composition with the windmill and sky are striking. The colors are beautiful as is the lighting. A truly tranquil scene.   Posted: 11/20/2023 21:05:22
