Ancient Stones by John Hackett

January 2022 - Ancient Stones

About the Image(s)

One from the archives this time.A scan from a monochrome negative. These stones are at Drombeg in County Cork, Eire. I was attracted by the position and formation of the clouds.

Interesting photo. The stone on the left looks like it is touching the clouds and disturbing the pattern.   Posted: 01/10/2022 19:37:13

Good subjects with an interesting sky. Perhaps more drama in the sky (contrast and detail) and more textured detail in the rocks would help the impact.   Posted: 01/11/2022 07:51:55

Interesting subject set against a useful sky. I agree that upping the contrast would add a touch of drama to this.   Posted: 01/11/2022 11:19:52

Great composition, and great sky. For me, the sky and stones seem to be competing with each other for the role of image focal point. Perhaps selectively brightening the stones and increasing their contrast/texture would help them be more dominant.   Posted: 01/16/2022 06:59:05
