Montebello Fall by Glenn Rudd

October 2021 - Montebello Fall

About the Image(s)

In 2019 I took a Sea and Land Tour with Princess Cruises from New York City to Montreal, Canada. Our stop in Montebello, Quebec was perfectly timed to capture the brilliant fall colors. The boat docking area was on the grounds of the Fairmont Hotel where we stayed. This shot was taken just after sunrise and my early morning was rewarded with this brilliant color display.
Technical: 1/125 sec, f/6.3, ISO2000, 56mm.

Well, I'm sure you are eagerly awaiting foliage 2021. We just had two Zoom presentations on foliage - made want to grab the camera and start shooting - except the leaves are still pretty green here. For me, it's the water reflection that makes the difference. The trees on shore are a little dull but their counterparts in the water are great. The bright colors in the boats provided a nice buffer between the land and water.   Posted: 10/03/2021 19:26:56

You might be forgiven for thinking that there was a colour cast problem with this image such is the intensity of the orange on the water and on the boats. Must have been glorious to see in reality. I would suggest a crop off the background trees and also lose the bright boat one the right because I think the image still holds up without it.   Posted: 10/06/2021 09:58:01

It is a very colorful photo. I agree that if you crop it some it would look better. Here is my take on a cropping of it.   Posted: 10/14/2021 14:09:26

Great colours and a great reflection. When I saw your crop I have to agree with it.   Posted: 10/15/2021 06:45:40
