Fluffy Chick by John Hackett

October 2021 - Fluffy Chick

About the Image(s)

I spotted this chick on the harbourside at Lyme Regis in southern England. It seemed unbothered by the people walking past. I was using my compact Nikon an its longest zoom setting which is stated as 300mm but I would imagine that due to the sensor size that would be the equivalent of quite a bit longer on a DSLR

Could this be a "nut" hatch :) Good detail in the head as he must have been moving his body. I might burn out some of the perch underneath him. Instead, I added some warmth and contrast to that wood and, moved it off-center.   Posted: 10/03/2021 19:08:37

Joe I agree that the crop is better and I like your title. The warmth however I am not so keen on.   Posted: 10/15/2021 06:25:19

A cheerful chick standing on one leg with an unobtrusive background. Great shot of the bird but the strange nut bolt on the perch is interesting too. A good capture.   Posted: 10/06/2021 09:46:15

I really like the detail of capturing the feathers. Really good photo of the chick.   Posted: 10/14/2021 09:27:17

A very good tack-sharp bird photo. I agree with placing the bird away from center but like the color rendering as-is.   Posted: 10/17/2021 08:14:06
