Red Tail Hawk at Mount Auburn Cemetery ISO 400, f5.6, 1/250 sec., 200mm

Mt Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA is a historical cemetery. If you come to Boston I recommend visiting and taking a guided tour. There is a tower you can go up to the top and all of Boston and a lot of the harbor.

Yes, the Auburn Cemetery is a wonderful place to photograph. I did hear they were putting restrictions on photography there.

As for your hawk - I wonder if it's the same I shot there several years ago? I did try to open up the shadows on the hawk and the branch. Using NIK's Viveza I was able to get some detail in both areas. Not sure what is going on with your background though. The foliage at the top looks strange (darkened it) but what was happening at the bottom looks weirder.   Posted: 10/03/2021 19:00:56

I took this in September. I was in a very shaded area. I used Topaz and cropped it. Here is the original.   Posted: 10/04/2021 11:33:08

BTW: what is weird in the background on the bottom?   Posted: 10/05/2021 19:00:06

A powerful looking bird and I agree that you should try to open up the shaded area on the bird's chest. The bright lights in the background are somewhat distracting but it would not be too difficult either to clone them out or darken them.   Posted: 10/06/2021 09:54:43

A majestic bird and I like the low viewpoint. The detail is there but unfortunately having to shoot with the bird in shade has not been helpful to you.   Posted: 10/15/2021 06:41:30
