The Owl and the Pussy Cat by John Hackett

September 2021 - The Owl and the Pussy Cat

About the Image(s)

During a walk through some gardens occasional figures from Alice in Wonderland and other poetry appeared. The Owl and the Pussy Cat appealed to me.

This is an amusing shot of this sculpture or model. I like the way you have caught the reflection of the cat which still has a little detail in it. I find the background somewhat distracting and wonder if a mono version of this might work a little better or maybe just tone down the bright green behind the flagpole?   Posted: 09/08/2021 04:52:51

Interesting subject and good composition. If this was my photo, I'd consider adding more emphasis toe the owl and pussycar. Options include ccrop at the top eliminating the flag, and then using something like clone stamp to eliminate the post, decreasing brightness of the reflection in the lower right, and increasing brightness of the boat and figures.   Posted: 09/10/2021 16:39:20

Nice opportunity to take a photo of a poem. I like the reflection in the water. Maybe changing the color of the upper part of the flag pole as well as the flag would help.   Posted: 09/12/2021 18:48:33

A very nice whimsical photo. As usual, I agree with Sheldon's suggestions so that the visual emphasis is on the subjects and the distractions are eliminated.   Posted: 09/16/2021 11:26:08

John, as has been stated numerous times, when photographing another's work, one has to find an interesting angle or tweak it so the shot of the artwork is unique. I find this a grab shot of someone's work. I see nothing unusual about this.   Posted: 09/16/2021 20:19:49
