WB Rail Trail View by Joe Kennedy

September 2021 - WB Rail Trail View

About the Image(s)

Several years ago the town purchased a rail bed and converted it to a trail for walking. It is part of an effort of surrounding towns to link their trails. I’m not sure how far the project has progressed. As you can see this was taken after a light snowfall. I processed it with Luminar AI and NIK to get this outcome.

This is an interesting shot with a definitely 'painterly' feel to the final result. I enjoyed the muted colours and the tracks leading through to the end of the shot where there almost looks like there is a figure standing.. There might be a question about the blue shade to the path of snow and wonder if the processing has caused this. The bright branch end on the right in the trees could perhaps be toned down a little.   Posted: 09/08/2021 04:55:24

Thanks, Peter. I do see the blue color cast and the brighter-than-normal branch. I toned that down as well as the orange foliage. Yes, that was a man and his dog at the far end. Think this is a better view. . .   Posted: 09/08/2021 06:41:37

I'm with Peter on this one. One difference is that I'd be a little more aggressive about the bright branch. I don't think cropping from the right up to the point that the horizontal brach goes behind the V clump of larger trees hurts the composition, and then I'd consider either further decreasing the brightness of the nub that extends out to the left, or perhaps cloning it out.   Posted: 09/10/2021 16:44:41

I like both but prefer the second one you added. The second photo looks more like a painting. Nice work.   Posted: 09/12/2021 18:54:05

This is an outstanding photo made better by your corrections in the second version. It has a lot of visual impact with the leading lines of the path and the orange and green color splashes. Cropping out the horizontal branch is an option but it is not a big distraction to me.   Posted: 09/16/2021 11:32:55
