I took this photo in the early morning when I stayed at the apartment in Manhattan next to the East River. The rising sun was moving so quickly that I could not even get my camera ready.   Posted: 09/01/2021 23:51:26

Matisa, this is a bold and dramatic image and I enjoyed several aspects of it - particularly the unusual stretch of trees in the foreground. Was this taken through the window? I ask because there seems to be the reflection of the sun on the water - a circular blob and that could be fairly easily cloned out. The buildings lean a little to the right and need some vertical correction - but this is a very good 'grab shot'.   Posted: 09/08/2021 04:59:00

I really like how the sun shines from between the building and the golden glow. The only edit that I think is required is fixing the building lean, but other than that what you do depends on what you like. You could adjust color, or increase the clarity of the buildings, or as Peter mentioned eliminate what is possibly lens flare - but I don't think even that is essential.   Posted: 09/11/2021 11:55:10

Glad to see you were able to take advantage of the sunrise. I would recommend straightening the photo as well.   Posted: 09/12/2021 18:58:13

A very nice sunrise photo with some compelling colors. As others have mentioned, the buildings should be straightened to vertical.   Posted: 09/16/2021 11:38:39

Marisa, you definitely got the warm orange glow of the sunrise. Once you have this shot, now start to look for areas of distractions - the sunspot in the water, the leaning building, etc. Some of these can be resolved in post-processing. You may consider opening up the shadows on those buildings. I ran it through a few tweaks - cropping it to take out the partial island (?) in the foreground; opened up the shadows in the buildings; straightened the leaning buildings; and even managed to eliminate most of the sunspot thru cropping. I spent about three minutes on this.   Posted: 09/16/2021 20:29:52
