Staircase Reflections by Priscilla Farrell

October 2024 - Staircase Reflections

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken at one of the local theaters. I found the curve of the staircase and the light reflections from above most interesting.

Technical information: Pixel Cell phone, f2.8, 1/126 sec., ISO 56. (Phone chose the tech informationl)

Great picture! You captured the reflections on the stairs very well and I also like the geometric pattern. The cell phone edits the images somewhat, so I guess you didn't heve to perform any post-edition. Congratulations.   Posted: 10/09/2024 01:54:10

Really like the reflection on the stairs. I can see that it goes above where you took the photo. The only thing that catches my eye is above the stairs there is a white line against the black background you can edit out.   Posted: 10/10/2024 12:36:42

I like the geometric simplicity and the white/black contrast. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the railing. I like how it leads down to the stairs, and wish there was more of it. (How did you get all the people to stay off the staircase?)   Posted: 10/10/2024 20:33:08

Great composition using golden rule. The color contrast is appealing and the whites are not washed out - well done! What might make the image more compelling is a focal subject to be drawn to, i.e., a guest with a program exiting the theater, maybe slightly blurred to emphasize movement? Just a thought…   Posted: 10/12/2024 14:17:14

Hi Joe, Thanks for your comment but I do have a question. The only white line I see is a small dot in the background black wall. I have been having computer problems and wonder if I need a calibration?   Posted: 10/12/2024 18:36:39

Very nice composition with the white-on-black contrast and the spiral staircase geometry. The little white line can easily be eliminated. It is not likely caused by a monitor calibration issue.   Posted: 10/12/2024 20:09:14

A very simple but effective picture. You have captured the curve of the stairs well and the light reflections add a bit of interest.   Posted: 10/13/2024 13:10:03
