This was shot during a hike, but I cannot remember where. It may have been at Franconia Notch in New Hampshire which has a lot of granite rock. The colorful lichen caught my eye. Even better, a broken, dried branch was already in the cavity. I wanted to focus on the lichen, so I upped the vibrance and used curves to darken the area around the rock for more drama.
Specifics: Canon 7D, f/11 at 1/100, ISO 1250, Tamron lens 18-270mm

Interesting subject, yet still beautiful. The adjustments you made do a good job at bringing out the color of the rock. I like how the light falls exactly on the center of the picture illuminating the rock. Nice image! Posted: 05/21/2023 21:41:51
