About the Image(s)

I was walking along the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, Louisiana when I encountered this young lady posing for her friend's photo. Her smile made me smile, and I asked if I could take one too. She nodded yes and gave me another big smile.

The photo was taken with my Sony RX100-M6, a compact camera with a 1" sensor and 18-200 lens, at 1/1250 second and ISO 1600 because I had been taking photos indoors and forgot to re-set my ISO, not a good thing to forget.

I cropped, decreased highlights, increased shadows, and then sharpened in Topaz Sharpen AI. I couldn't decide what to do about the background, darken the water. lighten the beach, blur where the water meets the beach, so I left it the way it was. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Nice expression of a happy person. The image is sharp and you could bring in details of the shadow area. The background ia a little bright. What about adding a vignette? A quick trial is attached.   Posted: 01/05/2022 08:12:53

Delightful pose of a beautiful woman. Fill flash would have helped, or the equivalent post processing. Eyes open would help too, but perhaps the squint expression is good. The background does not bother mel   Posted: 01/07/2022 09:25:41

Totally agree that her smile is amazing... Love the crazy color hair which also speaks to her being a free spirit. I am wondering if you considered changing the background to black and white so that the story is all about her...and her amazing smile.

I think your shot is a great portrait of a young girl showing the vast range in culture in 2022. The less manipulation is a great story of our times. I would not change a thing.   Posted: 01/17/2022 15:52:46

Nice smile!

Background is very important for portraits. On your photo it's a little bit busy. I like Terry's.   Posted: 01/20/2022 16:38:01
