About the Image(s)

At the height of the pandemic, I often walked in my development with my camera in hand. On this particular day, I was sitting on the ground near the water when along came this dog enjoying her walk along the water’s edge looking for treasures. Her owner told me that her name was Rosie and on this particular day, she discovered a tennis ball covered in mud. I quickly picked up my camera and took this shot. Although I was not able to include her entire head, I was taken by the color of her eyes and her wonderful textured coat.

Taken with my Nikon D 5200 on Manual Mode, Lens 55-300; Focal Length 120 mm, Speed 1/600 sec., F/5.6, ISO 800, Manual mode, Spot metering. Post processing included basic adjustments, blurring the background, bringing out the color of the ball, sharpening, brightening her eye and cropping. Finally, adding a slight vignette.

Questions: Is this image hampered or enhanced by not including the entire head? Does the noise in this final version add to the texture and feel of the image?

Good animal close-up. Your post processing is good and you could bring out more details. Blurring of the background helps. I think you missed the level adjustment. A simple quick trial is attached.   Posted: 06/16/2021 03:40:25
