About the Image(s)

When we were in Chattanooga TN, we visited Rock City, on top of Lookout Mountain, with its endless massive rock formations to climb over, under, and through. I photographed the 2 boys carefully making their way down a steep and narrow staircase.

The settings on my Sony RX100 M6 camera were 1/320 sec at f/3.5, ISO 250, 14.4 mm.

I edited highlights, shadows, white and black points. texture, decreased the luminance in the greens, increased the temperature and the tint, and used the graduated filter to darken areas I thought were still too bright. What else do you suggest?

You've come around the world so to speak from your original image. I wouldn't touch this final for anything. It's got the kids highlighted, the texture in the stone walls, the depth of field in the steps. The only thing that a judge might nit pick on is that the greens might be a tad too bright which you can easily correct and choose which you like better. Extremely well done.   Posted: 05/07/2021 20:32:48

Joan, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this image! The line made by the staircase broken by the two boys really tell a story. The image almost has a painterly feel about it which adds to its uniqueness. I like your choice of greens because I feel that they balance the colors in the boys. I am amazed by the transformation from the original to you edited edition.   Posted: 05/13/2021 09:37:12

Good orientation and cropping to make the stairs reach to image edges. The boys and the green are well positioned. Editing is perfect. Congratulations.   Posted: 05/17/2021 08:55:19

Very nice image. I liked the vertical composition. The image is sharp and your post processing looks good. I think the color adjustment between your processed and original may be better. I tried to reduce the yellow tone a little.   Posted: 05/19/2021 02:11:17

WONDERFUL. Your post processing is GREAT. I can't believe you were able to bring out so much realistic colors and textures. Don't change anything. I suggest you enter it in the PSA Pictorial Print monthly competition.   Posted: 05/19/2021 11:28:58

Joan, very nice photo. Having the kids gives a great perspective as to the size and steepness of the stairs. Post-processing is excellent. For whatever reason, it reminded me of the Cinque Terra coast. Well done!   Posted: 05/23/2021 12:13:21
