About the Image(s)

Here is "The Mountain Troll and his Treasure". Late in the afternoon on a forest path, the setting sun revealed a mossy green troll guarding his gold that glowed within the rocky wall. In a couple of minutes the light changed, and the magic was all gone. Fuji XT-4, F 44.4 mm, f/5, 1/250 s, ISO 320. Capture One 22. I had a particularly bland film simulation in the camera; the true colors were closer to the processed version than the original. - Can you see the troll? Is there something you can think of to enhance the experience?

The troll is a lighting hairy fellow. Good seeing on your part. Giving it more gold and yellow certainly helps with the treasure concept. I like that you see differently from most photographers and find interesting compositions from something that most wouldn't bituce twice. He's well-placed in the frame and the circle creat4ed by the leaves and other objects around the frame really focuses our attention on your troll and his treasure. It's a fascinating picture that really holds one's attention.   Posted: 06/09/2022 18:12:52

Hi Joan, and thank you! It is always such a thrill when someone can see the image the way it was intended. - I showed this one to my old mother who is usually quite responsive even to the weirder ideas, and was rather disappointed when she insisted that it is clearly a map with some water in the middle, and a mountain range… She liked the colors, though!   Posted: 06/10/2022 15:25:44

Hi Kirsti, what an interesting perspective. Great imagination! The saturated colors demand our attention, and the vignette keeps our focus on the gold and the troll. I can't think of anything that would improve the image. Regards Billy   Posted: 06/14/2022 15:04:43

Your edited image has nice details and composition! If you hadn't noted that it's a troll, then it probably would have been missed on me. At times, our minds create mental images when prompted to visualize it. May have a little too much overall yellow saturation for me, although, I realize that the upper left represents gold. Nice visualization...   Posted: 06/14/2022 15:10:47

Thanks, Christine! I have a paler version, too, and hesitated long between the two.   Posted: 06/15/2022 01:16:46
