About the Image(s)

Here is "A World in a Globe". One evening last August the setting sun behind my back made the pine trunks glow in orange, the foliage in shades of green, and a glimpse of the sea in turquoise. I was looking at the scene through an old blue-tinted glass ball hanging from a branch, and suddenly, at one angle, the light and reflections created an illusion of a landscape inside the globe. It was soon gone, and I have not been able to repeat the magic again. Fuji XT-2, F 50-200mm, f/8, 1/200 s, ISO 640. - The background is a problem: it was blurred but had strong distracting contrasts. Here I copied the ball and pasted it back after applying the radial blur filter in Affinity Photo on the original. Do you have any other ideas?

Hi Kirsti, I like the bright colorful image which fills the frame. It creates the impression of the world. It was a good idea to change the background, it keeps the focus on the globe and the circular blur makes it look as if the globe is in motion. The brighter, more intense colors are an important feature of the overall image. Well done!

Your bulb looks like a view of the earth from a satellite. The white are cloud segments, the blue are the oceans and the orange are land masses. Even though your presentation is blurred, at the same time, it conveys the concept of Earth from outer space. I wonder if there are any aliens out there who can see it.
Good idea on your part. It works for me. I'm nut sure I'd do anything to it to make it more realistic. Maybe take the top off and make it into a true sphere, not a hanging bulb.

Thanks, Joan, that is wonderful - I did not see that before! I will try what removing the top will do.   Posted: 10/17/2021 12:13:16
