In Full Motion, Golden Gate Racetrack by Joan Field, FPSA

June 2021 - In Full Motion, Golden Gate Racetrack

About the Image(s)

A field trip from our camera club, we had never been to a racetrack before so it was quite fun. I played between stopping the action and panning. My panning was not perfect but I liked the semi-motion that was caught. Pretty much straight from the camera with some cropping, a little work in ACR. Nikon D750, 28 - 300 Nikkor lens..

Hi Joan, I think that you have caught the essence of the racing horses, there is a wonderful feeling of motion. I wonder if cropping it a bit to a more panorama-like format would increase the sense of speed even more? I think that the lighter patch on the track (from the white socks of the horse?) and close to the right edge may draw the eye a bit. I tried to darken the lower one slightly and clone off the other. What do you think?   Posted: 06/13/2021 13:46:38

Hi Joan,
Great image, your technique really projects the speed and power of the horses. Wonderful   Posted: 06/14/2021 00:35:34

Hi Joan,
Good job of creating the sense of motion. I also like the layers of colors. Very successful.   Posted: 06/17/2021 15:36:47

Hi Joan, I love the feeling of motion and you certainly captured it. Makes me a little dizzy with both back and foreground in motion, but certainly gets across the story you wanted to tell.   Posted: 06/22/2021 10:41:25

Hi Joan: Great job of a feeling of motion. However, please remove what ever it is in the right hand section of the image, down in the right area of the photo , ghost like disturbance .   Posted: 06/26/2021 13:10:35
