About the Image(s)
This image of the Purple Gallinule in a Sumo like standing position was created a few years back at one of our Wetlands in Broward County - Florida. It looks like the bird is checking the water temperature before getting in completely. I used a Nikon D4s with the zoom lens 150-600mm f/5-6.3 @ 600 mm and with these settings: ISO 1600, f/6.3 and 1/1000 sec
The image was PP in LightRoom, and cropped.

Isaac, you certainly captured a very unusual pose of this Purple Gallinule. Most of the time they are dashing around trying to escape or hide from people. Like the story it tells along with your title. Perhaps I would have darken the reflection of the leg and wing, I find it a little distracting.   Posted: 10/10/2024 13:12:11

Kathy, I handle all my bird images as if they are going to a Natures salon, which is one of the reality divisions of PSA. I know that in this group we can do it, but I do not.   Posted: 10/15/2024 11:04:20

Hi Isaac, great image! the title is perfect. Only comment is that I feel that the red and yellow on the beer is a bit too strong and would tone it down a bit.   Posted: 10/12/2024 20:58:34

Wow! Clearly I am new to the bird world. Amazing and sorry for my ignorance.   Posted: 10/15/2024 19:12:32

Isaac, it is a good image, When I see this picture, I can't help but smile. Birds are also alive and have feelings and perceptions. Thanks for your sharing.   Posted: 10/13/2024 11:55:17

I really like this image of the Purple Gallinule. Your title made me giggle and tells a story. I like the action, composition and the colors you have captured. I agree with Kathy, every time I have tried to photograph these birds they are hidden in the grass.   Posted: 10/16/2024 16:17:39

Dr Vaisman,
This is a very sharp image and subject. It is unique in the Raillidae family having the coloration of violet, yellow, red, green, blue, aquamarine and indigo. The long-toes and legs are very striking and useful for foraging in dense vegetation. Thanks for the experience. I like the reflection too. I would have liked to see more of it.   Posted: 10/18/2024 18:57:38

Ted, it is interesting your comment. I have included more of the reflection in other bird image and most of the comments brings up that the reflection is distracting. Thanks for visiting.   Posted: 10/24/2024 14:00:54

Isaac, wonderful! Between the luminance and colors, the bird and pond immediately under its foot are a great subject. But it could suggest a caption like, "How do I get swamp goo off my feet?"   Posted: 10/27/2024 02:36:19
