About the Image(s)
This image was taken with my Sony RX10, driving along I-80 just past Salt Lake heading towards Nevada. It was taken at a shutter speed of 1/3200 which I find nets me more positive results with my 75mph attempts. In post-processing, I straightened and cropped it, adjusted the highlights and shadows, and used the clarity slider. I also ran it through Topaz DeNoiseAI. I probably took 50 shots along this stretch because I wanted to capture the reflection and it seemed to come and go as we moved along.

Hi Ingrid.
Lovely image I particularly like the clouded top of the image and the separation of the two mountain ranges giving a sense of scale and depth to the image. The elements in the foreground I believe add to the image as it adds a starting point for the viewer, and this foreground is handled well. You have definitely captured the reflections well and they do stand out beautifully. Being picky there is definitely halos around the tops of the two mountain ranges which you want to consider addressing.

Thanks, Tom. I appreciate your comments and have fixed the halos. :) ingrid   Posted: 05/25/2023 17:01:56
Hi Ingrid,
An interesting image. I like your concept of shooting at 75 mph. I hope that on your next trip across that stretch there will be some more water in the Great Salt Lake. We had a good snow season and plenty of water to come down from the mountains. Your image may be a candidate for a black and white conversion.
Best regards,

Thanks, Gregory. I agree that it might make a good black and white, and might try that, although the color palette was particularly peaceful as we travelled by. Ingrid   Posted: 05/25/2023 17:03:02
Hi Ingrid - A beautiful landscape. The first thing I noticed is the balance of color - the tones work nicely together and create an appeal that draws me through the image. This speaks to a good composition as well. Seems like you've captured the reflection as you hoped. I agree with the comments by Tom and Greg. Nicely done!   Posted: 05/13/2023 19:29:49

Hi Ingrid, A interesting Image! I feel that the image is a little soft. Probably it needs more contrast. I made some adjustments: First, I used Nik filter to increase tonal contrast, then I used Gradient Tool to blur the front buttom to create more focus on the sky and mountain. It is just another approach. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 05/23/2023 10:39:03
Thanks, Xiao. I appreciate your taking the time to work on my image. Unfortunately, increasing the contrast really brought out the haloes on the edges of the mountains. I might be able to lessen that with some work.... Ingrid   Posted: 05/25/2023 17:05:30
Hello Ingrid,
This is a beautiful, peaceful image. I am constantly amazed at how you do this from a speeding car. I don't think I like the extra contrast that Xiao tried, but his suggestion to blur the foreground a bit might be worth exploring.
Great job!
