About the Image(s)

I am remembering photography outings pre-pandemic. This image was captured a few years back with a Nikon D800 and a 24-70 mm lens. Things have changed in the National Parks since the pandemic, so it is nice to revisit some of my older images.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and your feedback and comments are welcomed.

Hi Greg, a great image caught and process well. The image certainly gives a depiction of granger with the background mountains giving a sense of the scale of the whole area The clouds behind the top of the arch work will in giving that contrast and the sun on the side illuminates the arch well. I have seen other images of this with somebody in the foreground which gives a sense of scale to the arch itself, while it is a very good image, I think would benefit by having somebody in the foreground to give that sense of scale. Lovely image well captured and processed. All the best for the New Year hope it presents you with many great photographic opportunities.   Posted: 01/03/2022 00:14:48

Thanks Tom and Happy New Year.
I appreciate your feedback and I agree that adding a person to the image would give it some additional perspective and scale.
Best regards,

Hi Greg, A very beautiful image! You processed it very well! For my taste, I don't like the composition, the far background (right, bright), middle background(left, dark), and main subject (center, in shadow) seem separated, also the main subject looks not in a right angle. It is just my opinion. Thanks for sharing!   Posted: 01/03/2022 16:27:05

Hi Greg - I have been to Delicate Arch several times and have not experienced this scene without other people on-site. While I agree that people would give the image scale, I don't miss them either. I like the lighting and the angle of the setting sun coming from the right. Your composition is quite nice as well with it framing the mountains. Well done!

Wishing you the best in all-things photography for the new year!   Posted: 01/05/2022 00:44:05

Hi Greg,

Now, that's a "WOW" image! I'm glad there are no people in it (not sure how you managed THAT - LOL!) It allows the viewer to focus on nature's majesty and get a sense of tottering on the edge of the cliff with the photographer.

The framing of the distant mountains through the arch is just another wonderful bonus!

Well done!

Hi Greg,
Greetings my friend.
I hope this year 2022 brings you joy, happiness and peace.
I loved the way you presented the first edition of the DDG 14 for this year. Like many other friends, I wonder how did you manage to get the scene without human being or other tourists? a lovely presentation with lights and colors. stay safe and stay blessed as always.
Cheers.

I have seen many photos of this scene and I think yours is one of the best. I love the framing of the mountain in the distance and the contrast between the blue of the sky and the orange of the rocks. You did a great job of revealing the texture of the arch even when in the shade. Although a person in the frame would give a clearer idea of the scale, I like it without a human presence. Thanks for sharing this successful image. Ingrid   Posted: 01/16/2022 21:48:23
