Breaking Waves by Steven Wharram, LRPS

June 2022 - Breaking Waves

About the Image(s)

This was taken earlier this year. This is a notable part of the town's walk that gets very close to the sea. It is also not very wide, so people will often think that they can do the walk without getting wet wehen the tide is high. However, they seem to forget that there is nowhere to go when the tide does come in and the waves break! :)

What I did:
As usual, I've kept any manipulation to a minimum
Converted to B&W using SnapSeed app
Cropped slightly

You have perfectly captured the mood of a cold day along the coast and provide an excellent warning for what will happen to someone who tries to walk the path at high tide. As usual you have a good leading line in the breaking waves that leads your eye up to the structures. Excellent composition.   Posted: 06/10/2022 10:53:39

A realistic capture of the winter months and the weather that they can bring. I like the detail in the waves, frozen and about to break on the shore, and the contrast of the darkness of the houses in the background.   Posted: 06/11/2022 14:45:13

Reminds me of Anglesy Island and Cape Cod trips in my youth and well designed featuring the POP of the Breaking Waves.   Posted: 06/11/2022 16:53:31

Hi Steven, Great leading line, takes you to the white building at the end of the path, this anchors the image very well, good detail in the waves and the buildings. nice and sharp all the way through.   Posted: 06/18/2022 08:38:45

Although it is under strong wave, we can still see the details of the moving water.   Posted: 06/26/2022 04:26:12
