Webster's Falls by Steven Wharram, LRPS

November 2021 - Webster's Falls

About the Image(s)

My first thought was one of the small waterfals that we have near us. Then I thought, "I've been to Niagara Falls, why not do that?" When I started looking in my October 2016 'Canada and US' folder I found a sub folder 'Hamilton Waterfalls and Dundas'. This will be menaingful to Tim, as Hamilton is his home town.
I chose a photo of 'Webster's Falls' which, although not as impressive as Niagara, does have a personal connection. That connection is that the Falls were named after a man called Joseph Webster who moved to the area from England back in 1819. Not only from England but from Gloucester, a city just 20 miles from me.

What I did:
As usual, I've kept any manipulation to a minimum
A slight crop
Tweaked colour and lighting as it was a little over-exposed
Resized for this Group

This makes me realize we are really in a GLOBAL VILLAGE, and love the texture of the bridge and location as a child I live about 2 miles away from this.   Posted: 11/10/2021 16:17:48

Thank you for the history of this lovely place. It reminds me of a storybook illustration; it has a very dream-like quality to it.   Posted: 11/13/2021 18:35:56

Thanks Barbara. We were fortunate that it was one of those places that give a good deal of information. It was quite hazy that day which may be what is adding to the dream-like quality.   Posted: 11/20/2021 10:50:00

super composition. There is a lot of lines and 90 degree angles working in here with the bridge perpendicular to the river and then the river making a 90 degree turn before dropping off the side of the hill which is of course another 90 degree turn.   Posted: 11/28/2021 18:21:58
