October 2021 - Rods Rampant

About the Image(s)

A difficult one this month as I don't fish, fishing doesn't interest me and don't know anyone who does. This was taken where I live though. When the river is high, then you do get people fishing/just escaping the wife here. This was taken last year, during lockdown.

What I did:
As usual, I've kept any manipulation to a minimum
Exposed to get a little detail in the wall but manly to capture the blue sky and the rods.
Resized for this Group

A very interesting site and wonder what their success rate is as looks something interesting to try only once,   Posted: 10/11/2021 02:46:24

I assume that they catch enough to make it worth their while trying again. :)   Posted: 10/17/2021 05:27:45

Very good point, and making me hungry for breakfast.   Posted: 10/17/2021 05:48:03

The absence of the actual fishermen in the scene makes this interesting. Great tones in the ship, you can easily see the detail in the darks. Interesting diagonal of the line of the ship against the sky, great composition.   Posted: 10/11/2021 09:37:06

It's not actually a ship Barbara, it's the wall of the river. Our flood defence system. Seen from another viewpoint.   Posted: 10/17/2021 05:31:34

Hi Steven, great angle, the rods standout well against the sky, you can see enough detail in the dark areas of the wall to find it interesting, I like the way the other bridge comes out of the centre of the wall across to the other side.   Posted: 10/21/2021 07:01:31

The fishing rods are well matched with the curved wall. A very good composition !   Posted: 10/23/2021 05:09:38

That is really a great composition: light and dark triangles with fishing poles sticking perpendicular from the dark triangle. I can just picture in my head the group of people sitting on the bridge enjoying a Sunday afternoon. Good job of fulfilling the assignment with such an interesting composition.   Posted: 10/24/2021 15:54:39
