Industrial landscape by Steven Wharram, LRPS

September 2021 - Industrial landscape

About the Image(s)

This was taken on a beach that is quite remote, does not have anything going on and is really abandoned boats and derelict buildings. The reason for this is that there is a nuclear power station very close. So this area is now just a nature reserve for all intents and purposes.

What I did:
As usual, I've kept any manipulation to a minimum
Although converted to B&W and added a bit of noise to give it an industrial feel
A panoramic crop
Resized for this Group

A wonderful idea of a INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPE as so very modern and wished I had thought of it.

The capture being in B&W allows it to come alive and realize colour is not always needed.   Posted: 09/06/2021 04:11:55

Thanks. I thought the B&W gave it a more journalistic feel.   Posted: 09/27/2021 06:05:53

Great use of the black and white and noise to create an industrial feel. Beautiful clouds and sky, with the contrast of the smoke coming from factory.   Posted: 09/19/2021 18:03:32

Thanks Barbara. It was the smoke blowing across the sky that day, that drew me to the scene.   Posted: 09/27/2021 06:07:02

Hi Steven, great image for B&W, and the crop suits well, the wonderful looking sky is really the feature.   Posted: 09/24/2021 15:58:17

The juxtaposition of windmills and smokestacks is very interesting and the clouds give it a somber feel. Great b&w treatment.   Posted: 09/27/2021 16:53:47

I love the details of smokestacks which is the most interesting point for me. The B&W conversion is also a right choice for it.   Posted: 09/28/2021 03:02:07
