This was a "grab shot" with my iPhone at this little boy's birthday party. The only thing done here was cropping and Image>Adjustments>Shadows/Highlights.

Yes, you caught the joy, for sure! I like the candid aspect, too. A sign of the times when you see someone in the background taking a phone photo! I often wonder what people do with so many photos nowadays. Phone cameras do a very good job taking well-exposed photos like this one. Posted: 06/11/2022 12:02:23
The expressions on the boys' faces truly say "joy"! The corner of cake clearly shows that this is a birthday party. That "BAM!" sign adds a dollop of fun. Posted: 06/11/2022 13:41:26

Those expressions say it all. How would it look if you cropped in tighter, say above the Dad's hand? I know the cake would be missing, but there would be more focus on those joyful faces. I hope it's all right, but I cropped it, made a duplicate layer and blurred it, then brought out the photo with a layer mask. I also used a vignette to bring more attention to the faces.
