Window Cleaning by Ally Green

January 2022 - Window Cleaning

About the Image(s)

We were in a hotel in Mendoza with lots of windows and while in the lobby I looked up and took this shot of the window cleaner. Are my proportions right as I cropped quite a bit?

Was thinking perhaps this might work well in Black & White too. Taken with my Canon 24-70mm lens, 1/100 F4 ISO 100.

I worked in a large glass building a few years ago and frequently saw these window washers. It sure looked scary.
I like the blue glass tone. I felt it was hard to focus on the man or the building. It was a unique shot though !

Wow - that would be some nightmare job for me!
You did a great job by framing him with all the glass around him. All set very sharp and in fine colors - great.

Ally, I really liike the way you frames this imae. I have a similar onethat I shot in NOLA, but I like yours much better than mine. The color is very appealing to me and the human figure appears to be sharp. I think positioning him within the vertical lines gives this image strength.   Posted: 01/10/2022 13:00:06

The contrast between the blues and the yellows is perfect. The slight diagonals of the building and the safety ropes add interest. This is proof that perspective issues do not always need correcting. Would it look netter in B&W? I tried using NIK SFX. This example is just the default setting with a little structure added. The yellows in all the presets were totally blown out, even though they are good in the original. That lovely contrast bewteen yellow and blue is gons. Your original is better.   Posted: 01/13/2022 13:58:35
