January 2022 - Up Above

About the Image(s)

I took this in late November last year while walking into work. I was still warm, and I was surprised by the glow the sky had later while looking at them. I took this with my Iphone and didn't do anything to the photo other than load it in Lightroom. Info shows as ISO 400 f 1/5 1/40 26mm.

That looks good - you are leading the viewers eye very nicely up above from the first line of light until the last last one.   Posted: 01/09/2022 02:08:59

The angle adds tension, and thus excitement to the image. The lights on the building add brightness to an otherwise dark structure. Yes, the architect placed the lights, but you took good advantage of them. The subtle texture makes the sky more interesting than plain blue (even though that is pretty, too.) Some may take issue with the top corner of the building being cut off, bu that doesn't bother me.   Posted: 01/13/2022 13:27:41

A great perspective of this building and my eye goes right up the left side enjoying the lighting on the way. The contrasting colours of the grey building with the lights and the blue sky work well together. Agree with Connie about the top corner of the building but doesn't detract for me. Nicely done.   Posted: 01/15/2022 12:51:06

Actually, Gavin, you have 3 triangles here too. It gives excellent balance to the image. Great exposure and no distractions. I like the fact that the top corner is cut off.   Posted: 01/22/2022 08:49:32

I didn't even notice that!   Posted: 01/22/2022 13:50:29

Your Garmin building has a pleasant amount of soft coloring and early morning light. Even the cloud pattern is soft and not harsh. I have seen this building from the street. I know you had a wide variety of choices for the perspective. Any little part you cut off has added to keeping our eye in the frame, I think.   Posted: 01/22/2022 10:35:03

I like the colors captured with this photo and the patterns in the sky are marvelous. I feel the photo is well proportioned/weighted and has great leading lines with the lights in the windows going up. Didnt notice the top bit cut off at all. Great use for the topic this month   Posted: 01/25/2022 18:40:28
