Triangles by Walter Ross

November 2021 - Triangles

About the Image(s)

I had a hard time this month finding a photo where triangles were in play (or even not that much ) but I was being indecisive with my options. Then I happened by a display in one of the rec centers here in Sun City and saw these tiny origami airplanes. A bit on the nose I will admit but I liked the play of shadows and graduated lighting this presented. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me so this was taken on auto with my Samsung cell phone. Played a bit in PS with the crop and even considered going B&W but instead went with the pop of color altering the 3 to pink. May have to go back with the handheld to grab some better-quality images. What does everyone think?

Hello Walter, a Samsung is a handy alternative to have ;-).
There are a lot of triangles and the crop is set well, with the eye leading line from the below left corner to the right upper one. And the pink airplaines are the eyecatcher here.
Very nice done.

You have definitely captured the theme of triangles! I agree that the theme was very hard to find. The pink-colored triangles give my eye a place to land in that sea of shapes. I might crop down from the top. And if any edges of planes showed up, I'd clone them away, such as at the very top of your current image. Now I want the origami folding instructions for these!   Posted: 11/08/2021 10:44:13

That is a interesting design. I like the idea of coloring a few of them. I felt the photo needed some sharpness added so I ran it thru Topaz Denoise AI and thought it helped.   Posted: 11/12/2021 03:33:24

The lighting adds dimension to the planes - makes them look like planes rather than triangles with lines. Good job on the pink planes! I thought they were really like that to begin with. Good diagonals and good repeating pattern.   Posted: 11/15/2021 14:10:35

The is a fun image, Walter. Totally monochromatic except for the 3 pink planes. Good seeing. I like the shading that goes from light on the right to darker on the left - it adds dimension to the image.   Posted: 11/27/2021 15:08:41
