About the Image(s)

I took this a couple years ago in a local park. I thought the sun coming through the fall leaves made for a great photo.
1/1000 f/9.0 ISO 600. I had used a Canon Rebel T5I and a Tamron telescopic lens at 300mm. Used Topaz AI to clean up some noise.

Sunlight filtering through colored leaves is indeed beautiful. There are several nice groupings here. Perhaps you could crop down to each of them. More experimenting is to find a branch isolated against a plain background (sky, dark foliage), zoom in on single groups. Your DOF is good for the subject leaves, but leaves the background a little distracting. But shooting at a wider f/stop may make the foreground too soft. Fall is here again; have fun at the park!   Posted: 10/12/2021 10:37:04

Gavin, in re-reading my comments, you may think that I didn't like your picture. In fact, I can see it as an important image in a series or slideshow about trees, autumn, forests, nature. The color and gloss of the leaves is quite good.   Posted: 10/12/2021 10:51:54

The oranges and yellows do beautifully say "seasons" - the fall season. Including the blue of the sky makes this a colorful scene. I see you used a fast shutter speed to prevent blurring from the wind, which is always a problem with this kind of shot. The background is suitably out of focus. I often use shutter speed priority with this kind of outdoors shot. Personally, I keep seeing a jet bomber in the dark shape on the right side!   Posted: 10/17/2021 13:56:40

A great collection of leaves and the colours are wonderful. I agree with Connie that i would have cropped down to isolate the front 3 hanging branches and perhaps a little dehaze to tone down a few bright spots and make the blue bluer.   Posted: 10/18/2021 12:47:12
