Leading Lines - Osprey with Fish by Barbara Kuebler, APSA, MPSA

September 2021 - Leading Lines - Osprey with Fish

About the Image(s)

Pretty much a straight shot. Leading lines from branch and from both wings. Shot at f8 with Canon 80-400 mm lens. We were in a pontoon boat in an area where the osprey come in every year to nest.

That is a wonderful capture of the Osprey and the leading lines of the branch leads me straight to it. Nice soft palette and great detail all round. Might have dehazed the sky slightly to make it more blue. A really great image.   Posted: 09/09/2021 15:23:27

You might want to try working on the blue sky by very slightly darkening just the blue color in the image.   Posted: 09/10/2021 11:10:43

Oh, my goodness, this image is full of leading lines! Besides the branch and wings, there is a subtle white-clouds leading line effect. And I find the shape of the fish's tail leads my eye up from the bottom of the fish up to the osprey. I appreciate the sharpness of the photo, too.   Posted: 09/10/2021 10:58:17

I felt the the leading lines were the wings. My eye focused on the osprey and the fish. I was thinking that some adjustments post processing to the background, maybe a little darker to easier view the osprey as some of the clouds and feathers are white. Great picture.   Posted: 09/17/2021 01:32:38

The wings and the branch make an almost radial lead into the face of the osprey. This is great - and from a rocking boat yet! The background is pale, but a fix is pretty easy. I used NIK Color FX polarizing filter, then added the darken/lighten center to give a vignette. This would have to be done on the original, because the result appears to be overdone here. But it gives the idea.   Posted: 09/24/2021 09:31:02
