I love photographing reflections of all kinds. However, favorite captures include reflections such as this and reflections on the surfaces of musical instruments. I had to choose, so I chose the Christmas ornament with a reflection of some of the buildings around Clinton Square in Syracuse. Every holiday season, the city raises and decorates a large tree for the season. It provides a wonderful opportunity for fun and colorful photographs. I love this image in particular, with the snow reflected on the bottom of the globe and the garland/light type border reflected around the top. I cropped the image to remove some distractions, made minor color corrections, and toned down the larger light with a Lightroom mask to make it less noticeable.

I love your originality with the subject matter of the reflection. I never realized that an outdoor tree ornament could have such a great photo opportunity! When I've tried to take an ornament reflection photo indoors, all I get is me, of course! You have certainly used some great photo skills here to produce this image. I'm enjoying it very much. And now you have inspired me to go looking for better outdoor reflections during the upcoming holiday season.   Posted: 10/10/2024 19:15:37

This would make a beautiful Christmas card. I've tried some reflections in Christmas Balls before, but none this pretty. The framing behind the subject is just enough to set the scene without being distracting. The reflections surrounding the buildings is perfect. Reading Carole's comments - how did you avoid your own reflection? Wait! Is that you back at the fence?   Posted: 10/10/2024 20:48:48

This is a lovely Christmas image Lisa, and I am also impressed at the way you captured such a nostalgic downtown scene with the snow in the foreground so perfectly in the ornament. Lovely photograph!   Posted: 10/12/2024 21:31:53
