About the Image(s)

The June shared photo theme for our community camera club is STRUCTURES. One of the pictures I want to use this shot of the Golden Gate bridge taken from a bay cruise boat on a beautiful sunny day last month. To emphasize the engineered lines and shapes I cropped down on one tower and processed as mono. The B&W treatment works, but I have struggled with the crop and would appreciate your suggestions.

Fuji X-S10, Fuji 35mmF2, f/16, 1/60 ISO 100. RAW capture, processed in Lightroom with B&W blue filter preset and minor tonal adjustments.

I like your image, the conversion and your crop. A minor suggestion would be to darken the sky somewhat.   Posted: 06/09/2022 05:40:22

Nicely done. The rigid structure of the bridge contrasts nicely with the more organic structure of the rocky shoreline. The more free-flowing aspect of the sailboat also adds both structural and tonal contrast. All in all, a very pleasing photograph.   Posted: 06/10/2022 09:45:39

I believe that your crop is perfect for the subject, Allen.

The subject is appropriately emphasized and stands out from the light sky background. The lighter sky is also contrasted with the dark rocky shoreline which provides a good background for the sailboat sail. The use of contrasting light and dark shades provides depth in the image.

Great crop!!
